EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts is a not-for-profit charitable organization that welcomes over 400,000 Calgarians annually into our facility. The mission of the Centre is to ignite imagination, provide the public with cultural experiences that exceed expectations, assist artists in realizing their visions and to enable the artistic expression of all citizens. We are seeking a like-minded individual who shares our passion for art and artists to help us achieve our goals.

Reporting to the Director of Public Affairs, the Communications Manager will lead communications strategies that promote the Centre, engage the community, capture market share and propel record setting advances in business growth.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

•Identify internal and external communications needs and priorities and develop an annual Communications Plan and Budget. •Develop and implement a variety of communications strategies, programs and processes to achieve priorities as set out in the Centre’s Strategic Plan. •Write, edit and produce a wide range of high quality print and communications products for a variety of stakeholders, including: corporate, marketing, programming, event services, arts learning and fund development. •Acts as the primary media contact. Manage and engage media support through proactive media relations strategies and media outreach campaigns, including the writing and distribution of all press materials and follow up. •Develop customer relationship communications strategies and produce materials and schedule outbound communications to build loyal patrons and to achieve Box Office sales targets. •Managing Editor of Stephen magazine (print and online) and Co-Chair of the Stephen editorial committee, responsible for directing content development, writing/assigning articles and editing content, overseeing layout and production, distribution channels and reader engagement.

Direct Reports/Supervisory Duties:

•Supervise and direct the social media coordinator, overseeing the monitoring and measurement of the social media strategies and tactics, ensuring achievement of the priorities as set out in the Centre’s business and strategic plans.

Skills and Educational Qualifications:

•Degree from a recognized institution in Communications, Journalism and/or Public Relations with 7+ years of experience. •The successful candidate will have the ability to apply current trends in: publicity and media relations, writing/editing and communications support, public relations, issues and crisis management, product development, advertising and promotion. •Proven project management skills with experience compiling comprehensive project plans and managing a diverse range of resources with multiple deadlines.

This position has a 40-hour work week and attendance at evening and weekend events is required. A competitive compensation package, including extended health benefits is offered.
