Loyola University Chicago (LUC) is a private, research-intensive university and the nation’s largest, Jesuit, Catholic university. LUC is consistently ranked among the “top national universities” and is comprised of four campuses in the Chicago area and three international campus centers (Rome, Beijing, and Vietnam). The University is home to ten schools and colleges and serves a total enrollment of over 15,000 students. The Quinlan School of Business, founded in 1922, is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and located on the Water Tower Campus in the heart of downtown Chicago, just off Michigan Avenue’s “magnificent mile.” In AY 2016, the Quinlan School of Business will move across the street to occupy a $ 67 million, 10-story building designed and constructed specifically to meet the needs of a world-class business school. Executive Education at the Quinlan School of Business has a proud 20-year tradition reflecting Loyola’s mission of educating the whole person and supporting the lifelong professional development of business minded individuals, providing both practical and immediately applicable skills that improve individual and organizational performance. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Programs, the Director of Executive Education and Professional Development provides the vision, planning, and tactical implementation to support sustained growth of executive and professional non-degree programs within the Quinlan School of Business. Establishing and implementing a strategic plan in alignment with that of the School and University and overseeing all custom and open enrollment programs are key responsibilities. The Director will be proactive in reaching out to the business community in the Chicagoland area as well as targeted locations in Europe and Asia to determine needs and develop programs uniquely designed to address the ongoing educational requirements of mid- and senior-level business professionals. Building on the strengths and capacity of the School, the Director will market the resources of Quinlan and position Executive Education and Professional Development as a key partner in developing the critical skills and competencies needed for advancement and success in today’s changing, global business environment. The Director is responsible for expanding corporate relationships, developing responsive programs with strong revenue potential, recruiting students, and identifying faculty and business practitioners equipped to teach discerning, motivated business professionals. The ability to analyze market data, to collaborate across the School and University and with external constituents, to maintain a big picture view while also attending to details critical to program development and delivery, and to instill an entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to continuous improvement among a small hard-working staff are essential to the success of the next Director of Executive Education and Professional Development. The successful candidate will possess a master’s degree (MBA or related field) and a track record of progressive success and accomplishment in university continuing education or professional/executive program management. Strong leadership ability, sound budgeting and marketing experiences, and excellent relationship-building and communication skills are required. Additionally, an entrepreneurial and strategic skill set coupled with a strong sales orientation and the collaborative ability needed to nurture and expand partnerships with organizations seeking opportunities to enhance the leadership capacity of mid- and senior-level executives are essential. An ability to work effectively as a senior management team member, to marshal resources, to bring creative solutions to fruition through the application of excellent project management skills, and ability to utilize the full spectrum of technology and media available to communicate opportunities and build program enrollment will also be important considerations in the selection of the next Director of Executive Education and Professional Development.
